Review Policy

Last Updated: November 24, 2025

The purpose of this Review Policy is to explain how The Archipelago evaluates and presents reviews or recommendations related to travel destinations, cultural sites, experiences, books, products, or services. Transparency and integrity are central to our editorial approach.

Whether reviews appear now or in the future, they are guided by the principles below.

1. Independence and Editorial Integrity

All reviews published on The Archipelago reflect independent editorial judgment.
We do not allow:

  • Paid influence over opinions
  • Undisclosed sponsorships
  • Biased or manipulated assessments
  • Reviews written to favor a brand or organization

If we recommend a place, product, or experience, it is because we believe it is relevant and valuable to readers.

2. How Reviews Are Created

Reviews may be based on:

  • Editorial research
  • Cultural/historical context
  • Publicly available information
  • Personal perspectives or learned insights
  • Local knowledge
  • Reader interests and relevance to Indonesian travel or heritage

We clearly distinguish between:

  • Editorial recommendations
  • General insights or descriptions
  • Personal viewpoints

Reviews are not meant to replace official guides, regulations, or professional advice.

3. Accuracy and Limitations

Because travel conditions, prices, or operational details may change, our reviews:

  • Do not guarantee real-time accuracy
  • Should be considered general impressions rather than definitive evaluations
  • Encourage readers to verify details directly with the relevant provider, location, or authority

We avoid making claims about safety, real-time conditions, or guarantees of experience.

4. Sponsored or Partnered Reviews (Future-Focused)

As of now, The Archipelago does not publish sponsored reviews or compensated content.

If in the future we partner with brands, tourism boards, or organizations:

  • Sponsored content will be clearly labeled
  • Compensation will be disclosed transparently
  • Editorial independence will remain a priority
  • We will never accept agreements that require a positive review

Examples of future labeling may include:

  • “Sponsored Review”
  • “In Collaboration With…”
  • “This article includes affiliate links”

We maintain the right to refuse partnerships that conflict with our editorial values.

5. Affiliate Links (If Implemented Later)

If The Archipelago introduces affiliate links in future reviews:

  • Readers will be informed clearly within the article
  • Affiliate commissions will not influence the editorial opinion
  • Links will point only to services or products we genuinely believe are relevant

Affiliate links never increase the price for the reader.

6. Transparency About AI Assistance

We occasionally use AI tools to support drafting or structuring review content.
However:

  • Reviews are never fully automated
  • All assessments are written, evaluated, and approved by a human editor
  • AI is not considered a source of facts or opinions

Human oversight remains central to all evaluations.

7. Corrections and Updates

If a review contains inaccuracies or becomes outdated, we will update it based on:

  • New information
  • Reader feedback
  • Editorial re-evaluation

For major corrections, a note may be added to the article referencing the change.

Readers may submit correction requests or feedback to:

contact@thearchipelago.my.id
Subject: Review Correction Request

8. No Guarantee of Experience

Every travel or cultural experience is subjective.
Our reviews aim to inform and inspire, not to promise specific outcomes.

Readers remain responsible for evaluating:

  • Local conditions
  • Safety considerations
  • Travel logistics
  • Personal preferences

9. Policy Revisions

This Review Policy may be updated periodically to reflect new editorial standards, changes in monetization, or expansion of review formats.

The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
